How Do I Choose the Right Power Supply for Cabinet Lighting?
GL Admin
Choosing the right power supply for the GL LED Modular Cabinet Lighting System is simple when you know two things: the cabinet light type and the total lighting length. GL LED modular cabinet lighting operates on 24V DC and is designed to work with our Class 2 power supplies, available in 60W and 96W models. For projects where architects, engineers, electrical contractors, or inspectors specify a Class 2 power supply, these models provide a reliable solution for professional cabinet lighting installations.
Cabinet Lighting Power Supply Sizing Guide
| 24V Class 2 Power Supply | Standard Output | CCT-Adjustable | High-Output |
| 60W | Up to 15 ft | Up to 15 ft | Up to 11 ft |
| 96W | Up to 24 ft | Up to 24 ft | Up to 17 ft |
How to Select the Correct Power Supply
Simply follow three steps:
1. Choose your cabinet light type
Standard Output, CCT-Adjustable, or High-Output.
2. Calculate the total lighting length
Add together the total footage connected to the power supply.
3. Use the sizing chart above
Select the appropriate 60W or 96W 24V Class 2 power supply based on the fixture type and total lighting length.
Example
If your project uses 12 ft of Standard Output cabinet lighting, select the 60W Class 2 power supply.
If the total Standard Output lighting length is 20 ft, select the 96W Class 2 power supply.
For High-Output cabinet lighting, use the 60W power supply for up to 11 ft or the 96W power supply for up to 18 ft.
Why Use a Class 2 Power Supply for Cabinet Lighting?
Many commercial, millwork, architectural, and professional cabinet lighting projects specify Class 2 low-voltage power supplies as part of the electrical design.
GL LED’s 24V Class 2 cabinet lighting power supplies make it easier to build a complete lighting system using compatible fixtures, controllers, sensors, wiring, and power components.
Quick Rule
Choose your fixture type + total lighting length, then select the corresponding 60W or 96W 24V Class 2 power supply from the sizing chart above.
